Belukha (4509 m) is one of the highest peaks of Russia.  From the slopes of the mountain you can see the main river Altai, Katun. 

The ascent to Belukha is a real proof of your skill and endurance.  Climbing mount Belukha is quite difficult. It requires some physical training, hiking experience and willpower.

Today, travelers from all over the world flock to the foot of Belukha. There are many beautiful rivers, lakes and plants at the foot of the mountain. Before you climb to the peak, you will trekking in these amazing places.

Itinerary


Day 1
Departure to Altai.
We meet our travelers at the airport in Novosibirsk.
Transfer to Novosibirsk. We eat in a restaurant. There is free time for rest after the flight. You can walk around Novosibirsk. Leaving for the Altai Mountains at 7 p.m. by a comfortable minibus.
The road will be 850 km, from 14 to 16 hours on the road. Day 2
Moving to Tungur settlement.
Accommodation on the territory of the tourist base.
Double and triple tents are ready for your arrival in a cozy location lot near the coast of Katun. Distribution of equipment and food. Loading of food and public equipment on horses. The guide will tell a safety briefing and a lecture on "Mountain hazards".
In the evening there is a free program, campfire parties and informal acquaintance of the expedition participants. At your request we will make a real Russian hot bath near the coast of Katun.
Accommodation in tents. Day 3
Tungur - Akkemskaya Trail
Breakfast at a cafe on the campus.
Personal equipment and food for a day and a half participants carry in backpacks.
On the first day of the active part of the route you will have a exciting adventure: moving across the Kuzuyak pass (1513 m) to the Three Birch Glade. Transporting the group on off-road transport will help to save energy before climbing and save time.
In the afternoon our trekking along the forest path begins. Overnight stay in tents on the bank of a mountain stream.
Day 4
Trekking to the base camp near the famous Akkemskoe Lake (2,100 m).
On the Akkemskaya trail we will find a lot of honeysuckle berries, cranberries and blueberries.
The base camp is located in the forest 1.5 km from the lake. The trail runs along the Akkem River. There is a view of Tekelu waterfall and the most picturesque panoramas of Belukha massif. Meeting the horses at base camp. Distribution of food and public equipment. Briefing before leaving the forest zone. Overnight stay in tents.
Day 5

Trekking from Akkemskoe lake to the base camp under the mountain.
For this day we have to climb more than 900 meters in height and pass the whole Akkemsky glacier.
Crossing the Akkem River on the bridge at the end of the lake. At the glacier grotto, the trails run out. The relief here changes all the time. The glacier melts and moves. It is like a living organism.
The height of the glacier growing quickly. But we will not hurry. Slowly we are approaching the incredible sight - a huge icefall of the Akkemsky glacier. It is visible from tens of kilometres at the foot of Belukha.
Overnight stay in tents on the equipped rocky grounds.
Day 6
Acclimatization and training
Technical training on the glacier.
Under favorable conditions - acclimatization exit under Delaunay pass. Preparing for ascent. Overnight stay in tents at the camp.

Day 7
Transition to the camp.
The beginning of the technical part of the ascent.
We wake up early. Climbing to the pass.
This pass is a snow and ice slope of 320 meters with a slope from 35 ° to 45 °.
The pass is passed along the ropes fixed by guides with special safety equipment for safety of expedition participants. It is dangerous to continue moving on this day in the afternoon.
Slopes are warmed up by the sun and the risk of avalanches increases, and snow bridges on ice cracks cease to hold the load. We have to finish the pass by midday.
Before climbing you need to sleep well and have a good rest.

Day 8
Ascent to the top.
Movement from the camp in harnesses on the glacier.
Cracks and faults on the glacier may occur in places.
Climbing to the pass by ropes fixed by guides. From the pass it seems that the top is already very close.
Simple movement along the ridge to the top begins.

We have to go down, because the ascent is only half of the task.
In a few hours, tired but satisfied, we return to the camp.
In the camp you can rejoice, congratulate each other on the ascent and have a well-deserved rest. Overnight stay in tents on the glacier.

Day 9
Reserve day
The schedule includes a backup day in case of bad weather. There will be two reserve days in the expedition.
If the reserve day is not used, we will go to Yarla Valley or Seven Lakes Valley from the base camp near Akkemskoe Lake.
Accommodation in tents.

Day 10
Having enjoyed the beauty of snow-white peaks and glaciers, we begin to descend back to the forest zone. We return to the camp under the mountain.
Here we have lunch. And through the Akkemsky glacier we go down to the base camp. Here we are waiting for a real Russian bath on the bank of a mountain stream.
Accommodation in tents.

Day 11
After breakfast, we start walking down the beautiful Akkemskaya trail. In just 4 hours we will be at Tekelu Falls, where we can set up tents. If the group is full of strength and ready to move on, then on this day we can reach the Three Birch Glade, where we will find delicious breads prepared by the locals, as well as homemade food. Overnight stay in tents.

Day 12
We'll take the off-road transport, which will take us through the Kuzuyak pass to the tourist base in Tungur.
Closing of the expedition. Russian bathhouse in the evening. We are going to Novosibirsk in the evening.

Day 13
Return to Novosibirsk.
Transfer to the airport or the train station.
