TOUR PROGRAM

Itinerary

Day 1. Murmansk.
Our guide welcomes all our tourists at the airport or at the railway station. Accommodation in the hotel, in the city center of Murmansk. You will have free time until the evening. You can walk around the city and have a rest.
In the evening the general meeting of all tourists. Our guide will tell you all the details of the trip, safety rules, instructions on how to behave in the wilderness. Day 2. Start of the trip.
Breakfast.
You will have a couple of hours to pack up all your things and check out of the hotel.
Shuttle to the ship. Boarding the expedition vessel and leaving for the Barents Sea. Day 3-4. In the sea.
While we are passing through the Barents Sea, your expedition team will tell you about upcoming events: landing places, history of archipelagos, flora and fauna of the region. From the open decks you will be able to observe the birds accompanying our vessel. And there will be a chance to see the first whales and seals at sea. Day 5-7. Archipelago Novaya Zemlya.
The largest of the Russian Arctic archipelagos, Novaya Zemlya, is the third largest wildlife area in Europe. Novaya Zemlya is located in the Barents and Kara Seas. It consists of two large islands - North and South, separated by a narrow strait called Matochkin Shar.
The route of our expedition will strongly depend on weather conditions and ice conditions, but we will try to visit Oranic Islands, Inostrantsev Bay, Cape of Zhelanie, Cape Sporoy Navalok and Russian Harbour. Inostrantsev Bay boasts one of the most picturesque glaciers in the entire archipelago, which offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the untouched Arctic nature. If the weather conditions allow, we can explore the shore or sail by motorboats along the glacier surface, watching the glaciers passing by. You'll also be able to meet guillemots because the colonies of these birds are on the coastal rocks. To the north-east of the Northern Island are the Oranic Islands. The wildlife of these islands is represented by the diversity of fauna and flora. Here you can see walruses, whales, many polar seabirds and, of course, polar bears. Day 8. At sea.
We bid farewell to the Novaya Zemlya and head north to the mysterious Franz Josef Land archipelago. On board you can listen to lectures from expedition guides or just enjoy the extraordinary views from the open deck. Day 9-12.
Franz Josef Land.

It is an inaccessible and remote archipelago consisting of 192 islands, most of which are covered with ice. It is the northernmost archipelago in Eurasia, located beyond the Arctic Circle. The archipelago is a natural reserve and part of the Russian Arctic National Park. We intend to visit Cape Flora, Cape Norway, Bell Island, Tikhaya Bay. On islands and coastal rocks there are rookeries of walruses and many thousands colonies of seabirds. There is also a high probability of meeting polar bears.
On the island of Jackson is located Cape Norway, where from 1895 to 1896 wintering legendary Norwegian explorers Fredrik Hjalmar Johansen and Fridtjof Nansen. Despite the harsh conditions, they managed to hold out until summer, after which they continued their journey south. The remains of their small hut can still be found on the island, as can the monument commemorating this heroic event. In Tikhaya Bay it is as if you are going back in time to watch an abandoned meteorological station on Hookera Island. Here you will immerse yourself in the history of Russian polar research. And from the local post office you can even send a postcard to your family and friends.
The islands of Stolichka and Apolonov offer you huge rookeries of walruses. If the ice conditions and weather conditions allow, we will be able to sail by motorboats in close proximity to these huge animals. Day 13-14. At sea.
Our journey is nearing completion. As we sail towards Murmansk you will have the opportunity to observe whales and Arctic birds accompanying us on our way home. The expedition guides will sum up the results of the expedition and prepare for you interesting presentations with photos. Day 15. Murmansk .
